NoMad

NoMad (short for North of Madison Square Park) is one of New York City’s most rapidly growing neighborhoods. The area was once the meeting spot for the city’s socialites. During the era known as Golden Age, the neighborhood was considered to be the city’s red-light district with endless dance halls, gambling casinos and saloons. Today, NoMad continues the tradition of a nightlife destination with popular clubs such as Jay Z’s 40/40 and 230 Fifth Rooftop. The neighborhood is bordered to the north by East 30th Street and East 25th to the south. To the west, the area’s borders end at Sixth Avenue to the west and Madison Avenue to the east. The architecture is the main reason behind the neighborhood’s popularity, its small confines hosting many a mid-rise building built in either Art Deco or Second Empire styles.
